January 04, 2010

Eric Marsh, professor of mechanical engineering at Penn State, authored the book "Precision Spindle Metrology, Second Edition," which was released in November, 2009.

The book is an introduction to the fundamental concepts and technology of measuring spindle motion. Specifically, the theory and practice of measuring spindle motions at the nanometer level for turning, milling and grinding machines, as well as production and inspection machines. The new edition features updated examples, concept explanations and illustrations.

Marsh's book was published by DEStech Publication, Inc., which specializes in publishing materials in advanced technology and engineering.

Marsh received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Illinois and his master's degree and doctorate in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

His current work focuses on spindle metrology, ball bearing metrology, diamond turning and precision grinding and manufacturing.
