Volunteers needed for Asperger's syndrome study

Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center researchers are studying ways to enhance social skills in adolescents with Asperger’s syndrome or high-functioning autism.

Healthy volunteers are invited to attend a weekly, one-hour photography class where they will learn and practice introductory photography techniques and have the opportunity to interact with their peers over the course of the 12-week class. The photography class is part of a larger social skills intervention program for teenagers with Autism Spectrum Disorders that incorporates a social skills seminar with the opportunity to practice the skills learned in the seminar during the photography class.

Eligible volunteers will be between the ages of 13 and 17; will be friendly and outgoing; and have an understanding of individuals with disabilities.
