Two faculty named AIAA associate fellows

Sven Bilen, associate professor of engineering design, aerospace engineering and electrical engineering; and Farhan Gandhi, professor of aerospace engineering; have been selected as associate fellows by the Associate Fellows Upgrade Committee of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA).

To be selected for the grade of associate fellow, an individual must be an AIAA senior member with at least 12 years professional experience in their field and have been recommended by a minimum of three AIAA members who are already associate fellows or fellows.

Bilen and Gandhi were honored at the AIAA Associate Fellows Dinner on Jan. 4, at the Orlando World Center Marriott, in Orlando, Fla., as part of the 48th AIAA Aerospace Sciences Meeting. They were among the 195 AIAA members selected to become associate fellows in 2010.

AIAA is the world's largest technical society dedicated to the global aerospace profession. With more than 35,000 individual members worldwide, and 90 corporate members, AIAA brings together industry, academia and government to advance engineering and science in aviation, space and defense.
