Lehigh Valley writing project announces contest

How do a giraffe, an ice cream cone and snorkeling all fit together in one story? The Penn State Lehigh Valley Writing Project (LVWP) bets there are some kids and adults in the area who can tell them. LVWP has announced a writing contest for youth and for parents and adults to incorporate any three of a number of items and activities in an entertaining story up to four typed pages in length.

A panel of judges will select story winners in four categories: grades 2-5, grades 6-8, grades 9-12, and parents/adults. The grand prize in each category is a 50 percent discount on a two-week summer writing camp tuition. A runner-up prize of 20 percent off of a two-week summer writing camp tuition also will be announced in each category. The deadline for entries is Feb. 22, and all winners will be announced in April.
