Health Shorts: Second-hand smoke kills 600,000 people every year

Have you heard a smoker claim that second hand smoke hasn’t killed anyone? Well, that claim is dead wrong. Second hand smoke kills 600,000 people every year, according to the World Health Organization (WHO). While that number is small compared to the five million smokers who die, it is significant and can be reduced by stronger measures.

The WHO report said that about 95 percent of the world’s population remains unprotected by laws banning smoking in public places.
