Registration opens for girls' summer engineering camp

Girls in high school who enjoy science, math and problem solving can now register for the Make the Machine (MTM) 2010 Engineering Camp sponsored by the Women in Engineering Program (WEP).

MTM Camp offers girls entering grades nine to 12 experience with hands-on activities and career site visits in the fields of bioengineering, optics, architectural engineering, mechanical engineering and product innovation. Participants will also interact with women professional role models and fellow high school students from across the country.

"The goal of MTM Camp is to introduce high school girls to engineering as a career that impacts the health, happiness and safety of the world around us," said Cheryl Knobloch, associate director of WEP.

This year's camp will take place from June 28 to July 2 at Penn State's University Park campus. Participants have the option to take part in the full week of events or only the days that suit their interests.
