Penn State Information Technology Services (ITS) is reminding students, faculty and staff that the University Park modem pool (814-863-2222 and 814-865-2222) will be terminated between 5 and 7 a.m. on July 1, during the regularly scheduled maintenance window. Plans to decommission the modem pool and its corresponding dial-up capabilities were first announced last March (see http://alerts.its.psu.edu/alert-1072 for the original announcement). As of July 1, 2009, ITS reduced the number of active dial-in lines for the University Park modem pool in preparation for its complete termination. As a followup to the original announcement, ITS has issued two targeted notices to those who still use the University Park modem pool for connectivity.
