Parking, traffic patterns to change at University Park during THON

This year's Dance Marathon will be held at the Bryce Jordan Center from Feb. 19 to 21. To accommodate the required access for THON, the following parking adjustments will be made:

From 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 18, through 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 22, Lot Orange L South, which is the fenced lot south of Bryce Jordan Center, will be reserved for THON. The lot will be used for technical and support vehicles in addition to volunteers that will be moving large amounts of material and supplies in and out of the Bryce Jordan Center.

Faculty and staff who normally park in lot Orange L South are asked to use Orange L East, Orange L West, Orange E at Shields Building, or one of the Commuter lots on Friday, Feb. 19.

From 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19 until the conclusion of THON, lot Orange L East, also known as the Founder's Lot, on the east side of the Bryce Jordan Center, will be reserved for Four Diamonds Fund families.

Faculty and Staff who normally park in lot Orange L East on Fridays after 5 p.m., or on Saturday and Sunday, should use Orange L West, Orange E Shields or one of the commuter parking areas from from 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 19, until 5 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 21.

The Dancer's Walk will take place at 4 p.m. on Feb. 19. The walk will begin at the Multi-Sport Facility and proceed north along the drive lane on the west side of lot 44 to the Bryce Jordan Center. As a result, from 4 to 5 p.m. on Feb. 19, the drive lane along the west side of lot 44 will be closed from the Multi-Sport Facility up to Lot Orange L East (Founders Lot). Dauer Drive (located south of the Bryce Jordan Center) will be closed from Porter Road to University Drive.

All vehicles exiting lot 44 will be directed east to exit onto Porter Road. Vehicles parked in lot Orange L East will be allowed to exit via the north lot entrance/exit only, and will then be required to proceed north to Curtin Road or east to Porter Road. No traffic will be allowed to exit lot 44 via Dauer Drive. All access to lot 44 will be from Curtin Road or Porter Road only.

Also, from 4 to 5 p.m. on Feb. 19, CATA's Red and Green Link buses will be rerouted as follows to avoid the interior of Lot 44:

The Green Link will travel eastbound to University Drive and turn left on University Drive, right on Park Avenue, right on Porter Road, and right on Curtin and then continue westbound on the normal route. The eastbound stop on Curtin Road in front of the Bryce Jordan Center and the Porter Road stop will not be used from 4 to 5 p.m.

The Red link, traveling eastbound to Innovation Park, will stay on Curtin Road to Porter Road, turning left on Porter and resuming the normal route to Innovation Park. The Red Link westbound will follow the normal routing to Porter Road, where it will turn left onto Curtin Road and resume normal routing into campus. The Porter Road stop east of lot 44 will not be used from 4 to 5 p.m.

On Sunday, Feb. 21, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Curtin Road will be closed to all traffic except CATA buses from University Drive to Porter Road.

With all of the pedestrian and vehicle movement associated with the dance Marathon motorists should exercise extra caution when traveling in the vicinity of the Bryce Jordan Center between Feb. 19 and 21.
