'Insight Forum' brings two speakers to campus in spring

A Pennsylvania pollster and nephew of Andy Warhol will highlight the spring program of Insight Forum, a community lecture and discussion series at Penn State New Kensington.

Terry Madonna, founder of the Keystone Poll, the oldest survey produced exclusively in Pennsylvania, and Martin Warhola, an accomplished artist related to the late American icon, are the guest speakers of the program presented by the campus faculty. "Insight Forum" is a series of four one-hour talks which take place in September and October in the fall and March and April in the spring. Local, regional and nationally-known guests talk about various aspects of American life and take questions from the audience. A reception to meet the speaker follows each program. "Kill for Thrill" author Michael Sheetz and radio talk show host/venture capitalist Glen Meakem were the speakers last fall.

Madonna brings his insights on this year's political landscape of Pennsylvania to the community at 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 16, in the campus Forum Theatre. A professor of public affairs and director of the Center for Politics and Public Affairs at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Pa., Madonna polls for the Philadelphia Daily News, Times-Shamrock Newspapers, Pittsburgh Tribune Review, WGAL-TV (Lancaster) and WTAE-TV (Pittsburgh).

Warhola and fellow artist Bill Mogush have developed the destruction of art by fire genre. The collaborators paint on the same canvas together and react to each other's creativity. Then they burn their work. According to the Warhola Mogush Web site, destroying the art draws attention to the idea and not the financial worth of the piece.

Tickets for each talk are $10. The spring package is available for $15. Students with Penn State or high school identification are admitted for free. The series is open to the public. General admission seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis. For more information, call 724-334-6057 or contact dms46@psu.edu.
