Donations for Haitian earthquake victims top $700

February 26, 2010

Penn State Beaver students have raised more than $700 for Haitian earthquake victims through the "For the Love of Haiti" project sponsored by the Student Government Association (SGA). Fundraising efforts will continue throughout March, and all donations will be given to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).

Students continue to collect funds at athletic events, in classroom buildings, in the Brodhead Bistro and in campus offices. Anyone making a donation of $3 or more will receive a red wristband imprinted with "For the Love of Haiti" and a red heart sticker.

The public is welcome to participate. To make a gift, checks should be made payable to Penn State SGA and mailed to Denise Turyan, Office of Student Affairs, Penn State Beaver, 100 University Drive, Monaca, PA 15061. Turyan can be contacted at or 724-773-3951.

For more information about the project, visit or contact Becky Mulholland, adult and transfer admissions recruiter, or 724-773-3809, or Robin Schreck, student activities and residence life coordinator, or 724-773-3947.
