Professor to speak and sign books in Doylestown

Nichola Gutgold, associate professor of communication arts and sciences at Penn State Lehigh Valley, will speak about and sign copies of her latest book, "Almost Madam President: Why Hillary Clinton ‘won’ in 2008" at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 13, at the Doylestown Bookshop at 16 South Main Street in Doylestown, Pa.

Gutgold argues that although Hillary Clinton did not win the White House, she gained more than she lost, since she demonstrated rhetorical elasticity like no American woman before her. In her book, she also argues that Clinton’s campaign was not symbolic, as other women’s campaigns for the United States presidency. Gutgold is at work on another book, tentatively titled "Why Not Madam President?"

Her other books are "Seen and Heard: the Women of Television News" and "Paving the Way for Madam President." With Molly Wertheimer she co-authored "Elizabeth Hanford Dole: Speaking from the Heart."
