The 2010 Children's Miracle Network radiothons see success

The 2010 GIANT Food Stores' Children's Miracle Network Radiothons were a success. Children's Miracle Network would like to thank the RED 102.3 and Big I105 family of listeners for helping to raise $236,500 for Penn State Hershey Children's Hospital during the 2010 Radiothons. The “RED Cares for Kids” Radiothon, on RED 102.3 FM, was broadcast live from Capital City Mall in Camp Hill, Pa., from Feb. 5 to 7. From Feb. 19 to 21, the “I Care for Kids” Radiothon, on The Big I-105 FM, was broadcast live from Lancaster Harley Davidson/Buell, Willow Street.

The “RED Cares for Kids” Radiothon raised funds for a Pea Pod Body Composition System for Children’s Hospital. This cutting-edge technology will bring Children’s Hospital to the forefront of nutritional management by promoting the growth and development of sick infants while potentially minimizing future health risks. The “I Care for Kids” Radiothon raised funds to upgrade the pediatric MRI equipment at Children’s Hospital. These upgrades will allow staff to provide more specialized techniques while administering anesthesia to the smallest of patients. For older pediatric patients, the upgrade will provide MRI movie goggles to make the MRI experience less intimidating and more enjoyable while staff works to care for them.

Throughout each three-day event, radio personalities interviewed Miracle Children, Children’s Hospital staff and physicians, Children’s Miracle Network volunteers, as well as patients and their families.

Citadel Broadcasting Harrisburg held its first Radiothon to benefit Children’s Miracle Network in 1998, and since that time, Citadel, its partners and listeners have raised more than $3.1 million for Children’s Hospital.
