Penn State Brandywine announces Women's History Month events

It is because of women like Rosa Parks, Hillary Rodham Clinton, Sally Ride, Oprah Winfrey and Clara Barton that the whole month of March still isn't enough time to recognize the contributions of women throughout history. In recognition of the bravery of these women and that of countless others, Penn State Brandywine will dedicate much of March to educating and engaging the community in conversations about women.

Each of the following events is free and open to the public.

  • -- From 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on March 16, Jennifer Maguire will teach "Stress Reduction Through Meditation and Yoga: An Introduction," in the large conference room at the Commons Building on campus.
  • -- From 12:30 to 1:20 p.m. on March 19, the Pennsylvania State Police will give a presentation on women and safety issues in the large conference room at the Commons Building on campus.
  • -- From 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on March 23, Helen Kuroki, vice president of medical affairs at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Media, Pa., will present "Women and Heart Health" in room 111 of the Vairo Library on campus.
  • -- From 12:30 to 1:20 p.m. on March 24, Wayne McMullen will present "Women in Film" in room 103 of the Tomezsko Building on campus.
  • -- From 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on March 25, Joanne Gillis-Donovan, president and CEO of Melmark, will give a presentation at the annual Women's Commission luncheon in the Tomezsko Building lounge. Melmark is an organization that serves 278 children and adults with a wide range of developmental disabilities in Pennsylvania and Massachusettes.
  • -- From 11:30 a.m. to 12:45 p.m. on April 6, award-winning poet and professor Daisy Fried will read from her books at Penn State Brandywine's "LiTapaLooZa" event, in the Tomezsko Building lounge.
