University Park, Pa. — Penn State Lady Lion senior Tyra Grant (Youngstown, Ohio) capped her outstanding college career by earning Associated Press honorable mention All-America accolades Tuesday. The senior is the seventh Lady Lion to take home AP accolades, which began in 1995, and is the first since Tanisha Wright claimed an honorable mention nod in 2005.

Grant joins Tina Nicholson, Angie Potthoff, Missy Masley, Helen Darling, Kelly Mazzante and Wright as AP All-Americans in Lady Lion history. Earlier this season, Grant became the eighth Lady Lion to garner multiple All-Big Ten first team selections. She claimed All-Big Ten accolades each of her four seasons with All-Big honorable mention berths her freshman and sophomore seasons.

The Youngstown, Ohio native, who is a semifinalist for the Naismith Player of the Year Trophy and a finalist for the Lowe's Senior CLASS Award, joined an elite group as she became the fourth player in school history to reach 2,000 points. She finished her career third in program history with 2,044 points. Grant finished second in the Big Ten and is 17th nationally with a 19.3 scoring average this season. Grant has reached double figures in scoring in each of her last 43 games, the second-longest streak in the Big Ten. She also ranks in the Top 15 in the conference in free throw percentage (11th/.789), steals (7th/1.84), three-pointers made (11th/1.58) and minutes played (11th/33.74). The 597 points she scored in her senior season are the sixth-most in program history.
