Volunteers needed for successful weight loss study

Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center’s Jennifer Kraschnewski, M.D., M.P.H. is researching successful weight loss strategies.

Volunteers who have been successful at losing weight and keeping it off for the past year are needed to participate in this study. Participants will be asked to attend 14, one-hour, weekly group sessions to learn problem solving and group facilitation skills to then co-lead a future group of participants interested in losing weight.

Eligible participants will have been successful at losing at least 10 pounds in the past year and keeping it off, be willing to register as a hospital volunteer, be able to volunteer a minimum of one hour each week as a group leader, have no history of gastric bypass surgery or scheduled surgery, have no current use of prescription medications for weight loss, and have no plans to move within the next six months.

This research study, IRB 32890, has been approved by the Institutional Review Board, under federal regulations at Penn State Hershey Medical Center, Penn State College of Medicine.
