UHS staff to participate in Global Patient Safety Challenge

On May 5, University Health Services (UHS) staff will participate in the first World Health Organization (WHO) Global Patient Safety Challenge. The event will focus on hand hygiene for health care workers and reducing health care-associated infections.

Shelley Haffner, UHS nurse manager for infection control, will lead staff through a number of exercises and training to improve hand hygiene during the work day. "UHS is committed to providing a high level of patient care," said Haffner. "Participating in the Safety Challenge is an opportunity to review our best practices and improve the quality of our service."
