Mother of five Penn Staters honored as Woman of the Year

On Friday, May 7, Good Morning America crowned its Woman of the Year -- an Ethiopian refugee who raised five children as a single mother after her husband left her. Almaz Gebremedhin worked three jobs to provide for her family. All of her children excelled in school, and all went to Penn State on scholarships. As Emeril Lagasse entered the Erie hospital in which Gebremedhin works as a housekeeper, Penn State Erie's cheerleaders -- and of course the Nittany Lion -- were on hand to cheer her on as she was served breakfast in bed.
