Student football season ticket pre-registration under way

University Park, Pa. — Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics has updated "Student Central," the web pages of www.GoPSUsports.com hosting all of the information that Penn State students will need to participate in the 2010 season football ticket sale, which began Thursday with the mandatory pre-registration. As in recent years, the pre-registration process creates the pool of students that will be eligible to participate in the June sale.

"Student Central" can be found by clicking on the Ticket link on the front page of GoPSUsports.com, the official website of Penn State Athletics. The site will be regularly updated with new information leading up to the start of student season ticket sale. This year's sale will also provide the opportunity for students to purchase basketball season tickets, join the Student Nittany Lion Club and secure the 2010 Official Penn State White Out T-shirt.

All returning full-time Penn State students who wish to purchase a 2010 season football ticket are required to pre-register for the sale. Pre-registration began on Thursday, May 27 and will end on at 5 p.m. ET on Wednesday, June 2.

Pre-registration is mandatory for all returning undergraduate and graduate students, as well as first-year graduate and first-year law students. Pre-registration also is mandatory for all Penn State Commonwealth Campus students transferring to University Park for the 2010 summer or fall semesters.

All incoming freshmen or first-time transfer students from another university will not be required to pre-register in order to participate in the season ticket sale.

For more information on important dates and the purchasing process, please visit Penn State Student Central. Students should note all deadlines and procedures that need to be followed.

More than 21,000 student season tickets will be available for the Nittany Lions' passionate and energetic student section, recognized by ESPN's College Gameday and by ESPN The Magazine as the best in college football.

Specific questions about the sale can be addressed to studenttickets@psu.edu.

Student Central now also features sections that go beyond football and basketball ticketing, which include information on student-targeted promotions, part-time and internship opportunities in Penn State Intercollegiate Athletics as well as the Student Nittany Lion Club.

The Nittany Lions return 37 letterwinners for the 2010 season, including 13 starters (7 offense, 5 defense, 1 specialist), as well as 11 players that have starting experience. Penn State opens the season Sept. 4 vs. Youngstown State in Beaver Stadium and visits 2009 national champion Alabama on Sept. 11.
