ITS to upgrade directory services server on June 9

From 6 to 11 a.m. on June 9, Penn State's Information Technology Services (ITS) will upgrade the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) server, which supports Penn State directory services. The upgrade will enhance the performance and stability of the directory server. During this time, several of the directory server's update-oriented services will be disabled. However, users still will be able to perform directory lookups (at online). In addition, other directory-dependent services such as e-mail services, Penn State Access Account Storage Space (PASS), calendaring and a variety of University-wide Web services will not be affected by this outage.

The upgrade is being performed mid-week and outside of the regularly scheduled maintenance window since only minor/manual updates will be impacted during a short window of time, and because all other major services will generally be available during the scheduled timeframe.
