Video spotlights Paterno Fellows program

University Park, Pa. — The Paterno Liberal Arts Undergraduate Fellows Program, an honors and leadership program for liberal arts students, continues to grow with nearly 130 students who have passed the academic bar to become Fellows and members of the Schreyer Honors College. This program is a transformational landmark collaboration between the College of the Liberal Arts and the Schreyer Honors College, melding the Liberal Arts identity and the Schreyer reputation for academic achievement.

The program’s academic and extracurricular requirements challenge liberal arts students to aspire to the kind of high achievement, values and integrity associated with the Paterno family name. Head Football Coach Joe Paterno and his wife, Sue, talk about their enthusiasm for how the program encourages students to pursue excellence and commitment in their education. Jack Selzer, director of the Paterno Fellows Program, said, “Not only has this group performed its way into an education of special distinction, but the class of 2013 is poised for even greater achievement because over two hundred students are now striving to meet the challenge from that group. This will soon more than double the typical number of Liberal Arts honors students in an academic year’s graduating class. And our incoming class of 2014 is showing tremendous enthusiasm for the program as well."
