Amy Gartley, associate director of student affairs at Penn State Beaver, has been appointed to serve on the Beaver County Drug and Alcohol Planning Council. The appointment was made by Beaver County commissioners Tony Amadio, chairman, Joe Spanik and Charles A. Camp. The council is administered by Beaver County Behavioral Health, which has been designated by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to administer, plan and fund drug and alcohol abuse prevention and treatment services in the area.
Earlier this month, Gartley received the Penn State Student Affairs Achievement Award, given in recognition of her years of service to Penn State student affairs, her support of Beaver campus students and her involvement in University-wide activities and groups.
Gartley has spent her professional career at Beaver. She was appointed to her current position in 1996 and five years ago, also held the position of acting director of student affairs for 18 months. Previous positions included assistant director of student affairs, assistant to the director of student affairs, and residence hall coordinator. Gartley holds a master of arts in counseling services from Slippery Rock University and conducted a practicum with Kevin Elko of the Staunton Clinic, Sewickley. She holds a bachelor of science in humanities and communications from Penn State.
