Medical center and teamsters agree to three-year contract extension

Hershey, Pa. -- Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Teamsters Local 776 have reached agreement on a three-year collective bargaining agreement extension, effective July 1, 2010, through June 30, 2013. The Medical Center’s Teamster-represented employees ratified the tentative agreement, which covers approximately 800 Medical Center employees who work in various fields including food services, patient transport, housekeeping, facilities and other technical services on June 25.

"This agreement will benefit our employees and our patients,” said Medical Center CEO Harold L. Paz, who also serves as senior vice president for health affairs and dean of Penn State College of Medicine. “This multi-year contract provides competitive wages and benefits for an important group of our employees and ensures our continued focus on providing exceptional care for our patients and advancing health and wellness in our community.”

The terms of the contract extension provide guaranteed wage increases each year and hold steady the percentage of health care insurance premiums represented employees are asked to pay.
