Penn State DuBois building to get complete renovation

DuBois, Pa. — The Swift Building at Penn State Dubois will undergo a full renovation this year, Penn State’s Board of Trustees decided Friday (July 9) in a meeting at the campus.

Benefits of the $5.2-million facelift include improved accessibility, energy efficiency and an increase in classroom space in the 46-year-old building.

Inside, floors, ceilings, carpeting, tiles and walls on both levels will be upgraded and areas will be reconfigured to use existing space more efficiently and to add classroom facilities. Plans also call for installation of an elevator.

Outside, the existing brick and stone veneer will be restored. A new high-performance, insulated window system will replace the current windows, and air-handling, plumbing, electrical and sprinkler systems will be upgraded. The new air-handling equipment will be located on the roof.

Some minor site work also will be done and existing parking will not be affected.

Plans call for the work on the 32,000-square-foot building to be completed in July 2011.
