Patricia Jabbeh Wesley, assistant professor of English, was a poet-in-residence at the Chautauqua Institution. Wesley was one of six nationally acclaimed authors invited by the Chautauqua Writer’s Festival 2010 from June 17 - 20.

The Chautauqua Writer’s Festival is one of many programs run by the Chautauqua Institution on Chautauqua Lake in New York. During the week, Wesley taught a seminar class in poetry writing and conducted one-on-one conferences with aspiring and emerging poets from across the country. Her responsibilities at the festival also included a night of poetry reading, book signing, four panel presentations, and more. As part of the panel presentations, Wesley was asked to speak on several issues, including, “Writing While Caught Up in the Liberian Civil War,” “Teaching and Writing,” “Finding a Publisher,” and “Blogging as a form of Publishing.” For more information about the festival, visit online.
