Global Connections is seeking volunteers for its International Friendship Program. The program matches local residents with an individual, couple, or family from another country in order to get together once or twice a month for friendship and cultural exchange -- meeting for coffee and conversation, including them in family activities such as sharing a meal together or attending an event. No housing is involved.
Community members who welcome internationals often form long-lasting friendships that stretch across the borders of their countries. For families, participation in the Friendship Program is a way to introduce different cultures to children of both families. Many new internationals will arrive in the Penn State community next week who would like to make American friends.
