Former Nittany Lion golfer Rohanna wins Pennsylvania Open

University Park, Pa. — Former Nittany Lion Robert Rohanna (2008) won the 94th annual Pennsylvania Open Wednesday (Aug. 11) marking his first win as a professional golfer. Rohanna took the links in the final round at the Applebrook Golf Club in Malvern, Pa., with a two-stroke lead focused on tournament victory.

Rohanna entered the final round with a two-stroke cushion carding rounds of 67-63. The Waynsburg native shot a final round 71 to sit him at 12-under for the tournament, securing the title by three strokes over Blaine Peffley of Lebanon. While at Penn State, Rohanna was named a two-time All-Big Ten selection and led Penn State to its third NCAA Championship appearance in the modern era with a second place finish in the NCAA Central Regional in 2008.

Joining Rohanna this week was current senior T.J. Howe (Osceola, Pa.) and former Nittany Lions, Chad Bricker (2009) Greg Piecznski (2006), and Terry Hertzog (1987). Hertzog won the tournament in both 2000 and 2002 and shot rounds of 73-68-74 to tie for 34th. Howe tied for tenth with a 3-under par finish posting rounds of 75-66-69 (210). Pieczynski, a pro on the eGolf Professional Tour carded a 212 with rounds of 80-68-74 to finish in the 20th position. Bricker, the most recent competitor to graduate from Penn State, tied for 34th with rounds of 73-68-74 (215).
