Free self-defense class for female students

University Park, Pa. -- Certified instructors from Penn State University Police will offer a free self-defense class for female students. Rape Aggression Defense: A Self-defense class for women students, is a basic course introducing self-defense techniques to female Penn State students. The four classes are from 6 to 9 p.m. on Sept. 13, 15, 20 and 22 in 117 Weston Community Center at the White Course apartment complex.

The sessions will teach awareness, prevention, risk reduction and avoidance options, realistic, usable defense tactics, a lecture and extensive hands-in training that will enable students to develop confidence and proficiency and a free lifetime practice policy to return to any RAD class, anywhere.

Students can sign up from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday in 204 Boucke. Additional information can be provided at (814) 863-2027.
