Seminar to focus on virtual user populations

Matthew Parkinson, assistant professor of engineering design and assistant professor of mechanical engineering at Penn State, will speak at 4:15 p.m. Sept. 16, in 102 Leonhard Building as part of the Industrial Engineering Colloquium Series. Parkinson will present “Assessing Artifacts, Tasks and Environments Using Virtual User Population.” The seminar is free and open to the public.

Parkinson’s expertise is in rigorous methods for the design of artifacts for use by people in areas such as biomechanics, biomedical design, ergonomics, rehabilitation engineering, motion modeling and prediction, optimization, product platforms and mechanical design.
