Heart failure patients can enroll in study

Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center’s Kevin Monahan, Ph.D., is studying the use of omega 3-fatty acid in heart failure patients. Volunteers are needed for this study.

Researchers are studying if taking omega-3 fatty acid supplements daily for three months improves heart and blood vessel function in heart failure patients. Omega-3 fatty acids are essential, healthy fats most commonly found in fish oil.

Heart failure patients ages 21 to 80 may be eligible to participate.

Participation requires measurement of heart and blood vessel function before and after taking omega-3 fatty acid supplement; and taking omega-3 fatty acid supplement daily.
