IST Pro Expo a success for students and companies

Students in the College of Information Sciences and Technology looking for jobs and networking opportunities participated in the IST Professional Expo, held Monday, Sept. 13, in the IST Building on Penn State's University Park campus.

“This was an important event for our college because it continues to build the bridge between employers and students,” said Madhavi Kari, IST’s director of Career Solutions.

More than 50 companies, including many new to Pro Expo this year, were on hand to meet with students and discuss possible job, internship and co-op opportunities.

“We were very excited to have a variety of employers from the various industry sectors participating in the Pro Expo,” Kari said. “We believe there is a fit for everyone."

During the day, there also were mock interview sessions that allowed students to practice interview skills with corporate professionals. The number of follow-up interviews scheduled for after the Expo is up from last year, “a truly a positive sign for our students that the economy is on the upswing,” Kari said.

Students in the College who want to further explore job and internship opportunities can contact IST’s Office of Career Solutions at careers@ist.psu.edu.
