S-Plan to host panel presentation on peer-on-peer violence

S-Plan (Support, Survival, and Success), a wellness-focused mentoring program for African-American and Latino students at Penn State, will host a panel presentation titled  "Crime: Peer-on-peer violence, Verdict: Guilty" from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, in 102 Thomas Building. 

Panelists will include Stephanie D. Preston, assistant director of the Paul Robeson Cultural Center; Danny Shaha, senior director of Judicial Affairs; Tyrone Parham, assistant deputy of University Police Services; Shadiyah Haines, president of the National Pan-Hellenic Council; Andre McLeod, coordinator of Residence Life; and Travis Salters, president of the Penn State Chapter of NAACP.

“Peer-on-peer violence is a problem on college campuses that can have serious consequences. We hope this program will increase awareness of healthy ways to deal with conflict.” added Tyrone Reese, S-Plan graduate assistant.

S-Plan promotes the mental and physical health of African-American and Latino students. The program assists new students with their adjustment to University Park by helping them manage stress they may experience in their first year.
