Goo Goo Dolls collecting nonperishable food donations at Oct. 19 show

University Park, Pa. -- The Goo Goo Dolls, performing at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, in Eisenhower Auditorium, ask fans attending the Penn State concert to bring nonperishable food donations to support regional food banks. The fan donating the most items will have an opportunity to meet the band.

The Goo Street Team, a grassroots organization that supports the Goo Goo Dolls and the non-profit organizations with which the band works, is collecting the food items at fall tour locations to donate to two charities -- USA Harvest and Blessings in a Backpack. Food collected at Eisenhower goes to Feed-a-Friend donation/distribution centers in the Williamsport area or other regional food banks.

“Initially these food donation projects were a bit unorganized,” said Heather Sage, regional co-leader of the Goo Street Team. “Over the past decade, the Goo Street Team has developed into a successful food-collecting organization and has fed more than 9 million families.”

The Goo Street Team seeks volunteers for the show. Fans interested in helping should e-mail volunteers@googoodollsstreetteam.com.
