Lisa Davis elected to PRHA board of directors

Lisa A. Davis, director of the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health (PORH) at Penn State, has been elected to serve on the Pennsylvania Rural Health Association (PRHA) board of directors.

PRHA is dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of Pennsylvania's rural citizens and communities. By combining the efforts of individuals, organizations, professionals and community leaders, PRHA provides a collective voice on rural health issues and serves a conduit of rural health information and resources benefiting all Pennsylvanians.

Davis has served prior three-year terms on the PRHA board of directors. A past president of PRHA, she now serves as co-chair of the organization’s legislative committee.

Davis has been recognized nationally for her work on rural health issues, public health policy, women’s health, and the un- and underinsured. She has received several awards, including PRHA’s Outstanding Leadership Award and the Distinguished Leadership Award from the National Organization of State Offices of Rural Health (NOSORH). PORH has also received NOSORH’s Award of Merit during her tenure.

In addition to her work with PRHA, Davis is a member of the NOSORH board of directors, the National Medicare Rural Hospital Flexibility Advisory Committee, the Rural Health Works National Managing Committee, the Appalachian Regional Commission Health Policy Advisory Council and several National Rural Health Association advisory committees. Within the Commonwealth, Davis is a member of the Pennsylvania Commission for Women and the Governor’s Advisory Council on Rural Affairs. She also is vice president and co-founder of the Centre County Breast Cancer Coalition, is treasurer of Pennsylvania Rural Partners and serves on the board of the Pennsylvania Coalition to Prevent Teen Pregnancy.
