Dambly, Silvis appointed to Board of Trustees; Lubert reappointed

University Park, Pa. — Governor Ed Rendell has appointed Mark H. Dambly, president of Pennrose Properties, and Paul H. Silvis, founder of Restek Corporation and currently the head coach of SilkoTek, to the Penn State Board of Trustees. Additionally, Rendell reappointed current trustee Ira Lubert, chairman and co-founder of Independence Capital Partners and Lubert Adler Partners. The governor of the Commonwealth appoints six of the board's 32 members.

Dambly fills the position previously held by Roger J. Reschini, with a term expiring on June 30, 2011. A Penn State graduate with a degree in real estate and insurance, Dambly has been president of Philadelphia-based real estate developer Pennrose Properties since 2004. He directs the firm's business development efforts and leads teams through every phase of the building development process. Dambly joined Pennrose in 1992 as vice president and partner.

Prior to joining Pennrose, Dambly owned and operated a successful, award-winning home-building business. He serves on numerous civic boards and councils, as well as the board of directors of Crozer-Keystone Health System. He lives in Media, Pa., with his wife and two children.

Silvis was appointed to the position previously held by Eugene Chaiken for a three-year term expiring June 30, 2013. He founded the Bellefonte, Pa.-based Restek, a manufacturer of innovative chromatography products, in 1985. Restek has grown to become a worldwide leader in supplying scientific analysts with chromatography products and has more than 250 owner-employees at its headquarters in Bellefonte, with a California research facility and subsidiary locations in England, Ireland, Germany, France and Japan. Since 2009, Silvis' efforts have primarily focused on the Restek offshoot technology company SilcoTek. The head coach position at Restek and SilcoTek serves in place of a CEO, as Silvis felt the title better described the role. Restek has been recognized regionally and nationally as a best place to work.

A graduate of the Penn State's Smeal College of Business Executive MBA Program, Silvis serves on the advisory board for Penn State's current capital campaign, For the Future: The Campaign for Penn State Students. He has served on a number of Penn State and regional boards and councils and is president of Central Pennsylvania July 4th Inc., the non-profit group that operates Central PA 4thFest.

Lubert has served on the Board of Trustees since 2007 and was reappointed for a term expiring June 30, 2013. He is chairman and co-founder of Lubert-Adler Real Estate, which, together with LLR Equity Partners, Quaker BioVentures, LEM Mezzanine Fund, Versa Capital Management, LBC Corporate Debt Fund, Rubenstein Partners and Patriot Capital Partners, constitute Independence Capital Partners, a family of private investment management firms. Lubert graduated from Penn State with a degree in food service and housing administration. He received the Penn State Alumni Fellow Award in 1995 and the Distinguished Alumnus Award in 2006.
