Heard on Campus: Laureate Robin Becker on writing our own stories

“We’re all writing the narratives of our own lives -- whether we’re literally writing them, or just telling ourselves the stories. We all carry around the narratives that feel most truthful to ourselves. It’s a very interesting aspect of human existence -- how we make sense of our experiences.”

-- Robin Becker, 2010-11 Penn State Laureate

Video footage of the event will be available on YouTube, and a full podcast of the event will be available on iTunesU and the Research Penn State Web site http://www.rps.psu.edu/ online.

Research Unplugged is a public conversation series, featuring Penn State professors sharing their research and answering questions. The series includes six Wednesday lectures; each runs from noon-1 p.m. at the Penn State Downtown Theatre Center (146 S. Allen Street). The next topic, on Nov. 10, is "What? I Can’t Hear You! Whale and Dolphin Communication in a Noisy Ocean," featuring bioacoustics researcher Susan Parks.
