Goodyear Asia-Pacific president to speak at Smeal

November 05, 2010

University Park, Pa. – Pierre Cohade, president of The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company's Asia-Pacific region, is scheduled to speak at the Penn State Smeal College of Business at 11:15 a.m. Nov. 12, in 110 Business Building on Penn State's University Park campus, as a guest of the college's Leadership in Focus: Executive Insights speaker series.

Cohade, a 1985 alumnus of the Smeal College of Business MBA Program, will join James B. Thomas, the John and Becky Surma dean of Smeal, for an interactive on-stage conversation. The talk is free and open to the public.

Prior to joining Goodyear in 2004, Cohade worked globally in four continents where he accumulated a proven track record in turning around businesses, building organizations and placing them on a growth trajectory.

In 1985, he began with Eastman Kodak in the United States as a financial analyst and subsequently held business management and executive positions in Brazil, Mexico, the United States, Singapore and Switzerland. He was named general manager and corporate vice president of Worldwide Consumer Films in 1996 and assumed leadership of the Asia Pacific region for Kodak's Consumer Imaging business in 1999. Cohade was named chairman of Kodak's Europe, Africa, Middle East and Russia region in 2001.

In 2003, Groupe Danone chose Cohade to run its Global Water and Beverage division, based in Paris. He refocused the business to ensure that Danone remained a global leader, by improving margins and either holding or gaining market share in all markets targeted by Groupe Danone's competition.

A native of Barcelonnette, France, Cohade lives in Shanghai, where he is governor of the American Chamber of Commerce and adviser to the Women's Forum for Economy and Society. In 2008, he was awarded the Magnolia Award from the Shanghai Municipal Government for his civic leadership and business contributions to Shanghai's development.

In addition to his master's of business administration from Smeal, Cohade holds a degree in business management from the CERAM School of Business in Sophia-Antipolis, France.
