Wilkes-Barre's Seybert to remain director of ETCE

Tom Seybert, associate professor of engineering at Penn State Wilkes-Barre, has extended his appointment as director of Engineering Technology and Commonwealth Engineering through June 30, 2013.

Since 1981, he has taught at the Beaver, University Park and Wilkes-Barre campuses covering topics in engineering design, engineering technology, civil engineering and surveying engineering.

Seybert's research and professional interests include the rainfall-runoff process in the urban environment including such issues as stormwater management, flood control, surface water quality, transport and removal of surface runoff pollutants and groundwater recharge.

He has authored many journal papers, developed several courses in surveying and stormwater management and is the author of the textbook "Stormwater Management for Land Development Design."

Seybert is a 2002 recipient of the Penn State Engineering Alumni Society Outstanding Teaching Award and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping, the American Society of Engineering Education, the Surveying and Geomatics Educators Society and the Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors.

He received his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees in civil engineering from Penn State.
