School of Music plans 16 concerts in end-of-semester flurry

University Park, Pa. -- As the fall semester finishes this week, the Penn State School of Music has increased the tempo dramatically. There will be 16 concerts in the last five days of the semester.

The Symphonic Band and Concert Band will perform at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 9, in Eisenhower Auditorium, and the Philharmonic Orchestra will play Shostakovich's "Symphony No.10" at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 7, in Eisenhower Auditorium. The final concert of the semester is Essence of Joy's annual Gift in Song at 8 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 10, in Esber Recital Hall.

Interspersed between these large ensemble concerts are tuba, trombone, trumpet, horn and double bass studios in Esber Recital Hall. More information can be found at http://www.music.psu.edu/ online.
