WPSU announces Comcast 'video on demand' schedule for early January

Comcast cable will offer several shows produced by Penn State Public Broadcasting on its Video on Demand service in the coming weeks.

Available through Jan. 24: “Heart of the Lion,” (2009). The Nittany Lion is more than a mascot. Find out what it takes to represent the long-standing traditions of Penn State.

Available through Jan. 24: “The Wind Chill,” (2010). The roots of the modern notion of wind-chill temperature date to Antarctica in 1940 and the experiments of a Pennsylvania scientist who accompanied Admiral Robert Byrd to the frozen continent.

Available through Jan. 24: “Freezing Mystery,” (2008). Lake Erie is as far south as any Great Lake, but it's the most likely to freeze over during winter. Explore the science of how bodies of water freeze and the precautions taken to keep Erie's ice from causing problems downstream.

Available from Jan. 14 to Feb. 14: “Brian Ross,” (2010) In his almost 40 years of reporting, Investigative Correspondent Brian Ross has been honored with dozens of awards for his coverage of issues from human rights abuses to corruption in government. He discusses his life as an investigative journalist and the future of network news.

WPSU serves central Pennsylvania with programming, educational services and community outreach. Its public media services produce, acquire and distribute programs that address local interests and reflect the diverse cultural, political, geographic and demographic characteristics of an audience within central Pennsylvania.
