Penn State Wilkes-Barre THON dancers selected

January 13, 2011

Beginning Friday, Feb. 18, Penn State Wilkes-Barre students Dara Rose and Bob Veneskey will spend 46 straight hours awake and on their feet, participating in the 2011 Penn State Interfraternity Council/Panhellenic Dance Marathon (THON).

Since 1977, (THON) has raised more than $69 million for the Four Diamonds Fund at Penn State Children’s Hospital. The Four Diamonds Fund, established in 1972, aids families battling pediatric cancer by providing innovative cancer research and treatment as well as support for the families. THON, a 46-hour no sitting, no sleeping dance marathon, is the culmination of a year-long fundraising effort by students at PennState. THON allows the students and families to come together and celebrate the victories, both large and small, that THON and the Four Diamonds Fund have achieved.

THON 2011 will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18 and concludes at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 20.
