Beaver students, staff make Martin Luther King Jr. Day a 'day on'

January 14, 2011

On Monday, Jan. 17, students and staff from Penn State Beaver joined other Penn State campuses in celebrating the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday with the “Make It a Day On, Not a Day Off’ project.

Beaver campus was one of six campuses that each sent 15 students to participate in a regional effort sponsored by Penn State Fayette. In addition, 17 Beaver campus students and staff volunteered to spend the day at the Center for Hope in Ambridge, which currently is moving to a new location. The Center for Hope provides outreach and services to families and individuals who are undergoing economic and life skills hardships. The Center’s goal is to provide education, recreation, academic preparation and employment readiness for those in need.
