Parking Office announces parking, transit changes related to THON

To accommodate this year's THON activities, Penn State's Parking Office has announced several changes. Various aspects of traffic and parking patters, as well as several CATA bus routes, will be affected from Feb. 17 to 21. Motorists should use extreme caution while traveling near the Bryce Jordan Center, as there will be increased pedestrian and vehicular traffic.

From 5 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 17 to 7:30 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 21, Lot Orange L South (fenced lot south of the Bryce Jordan Center) will be reserved for THON. On Friday, Feb. 18, faculty and staff who normally park there should use lots Orange L East, Orange L West, Orange E at Shields Building, or one of the commuter lots.

From 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18 through the conclusion of THON on Sunday, lot Orange L East and a section of Lot 44 will be reserved for Four Diamonds Fund Families. Employees who normally park there on Friday evenings or on weekends should use Orange L West, Orange E Shields, or one of the commuter parking areas from 5 p.m. Feb. 18 through 5 p.m. Feb. 20.

On Sunday, Feb. 20, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Curtin Road will be closed to all traffic except CATA buses from University Drive to Porter Road.

Dancer's Walk:

From 4 to 5 p.m. on Feb. 18, access roads directly to the south and east of the Bryce Jordan Center will be closed for the Dancer's Walk. During the walk, all vehicles exiting lot 44 will be direct to exit onto Porter Road. Vehicles parked in lot Orange L East will be allowed to exit via the north lot exit only, and will be required to proceed north to Curtin Road or east to Porter Road. No traffic will be allowed to exit via Dauer Drive (directly south of the Jordan Center).

Also, from 4 to 5 p.m. on Feb. 18, CATA'S Red and Green Link buses will be rerouted. The Green Link will travel eastbound to University Drive and turn left on University Drive, right on Park Avenue, right on Porter Road and right on Curtin Road, and then continue westbound on the normal route. The eastbound stop on Curtin Road in front of the Bryce Jordan Center and the Porter Road stop will not be used from 4 - 5 p.m.

The Red Link, traveling eastbound to Innovation Park will stay on Curtin Road to Porter Road, turning left on Porter and resuming the normal route to Innovation Park. The Red Link westbound will follow the normal routing to Porter Road, where it will turn right on Curtin Road and resume normal routing into campus. The Porter Road stop east of lot 44 will not be used from 4 - 5 p.m.
