At 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 9, Penn State Greater Allegheny will hold a 5K Run/Walk open to students and staff of the campus, along with surrounding community members.
Participants can register online at https://sites.google.com/site/psga5k. Registration, which includes a T-shirt, is $25 for adults and $15 for students.
The 5K will benefit the McKeesport-based Sonshine Community Ministries, a ministry that provides clothing, food and counseling services to area residents. The event was created to provide students at Penn State Greater Allegheny with the opportunity to be challenged both physically and mentally while contributing to their surrounding community.
The 5K is being hosted by the Penn State Greater Allegheny Student Government Association and is sponsored by the Penn State Greater Allegheny Alumni Society. The event will be timed by Runner’s High, a race and time management company based in Grove City, Pa. Check in for the race/walk is from 8 to 8:30 a.m. at the Resident’s Hall parking lot. The run/walk is expected to conclude by 10:30 a.m.
