Communications-specific job fairs provide opportunities for students

Penn State students interested in communications will have the opportunity to network with prospective employers on campus and in New York City during two communications-specific job fairs held in March and April, respectively.

The first of the two College of Communications events, an on-campus job fair known as JobExpo.Comm(unications), will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, March 25, in Alumni Hall of the HUB-Robeson Center on the University Park campus.

JobExpo brings businesses from a range of communications fields to campus, providing students and alumni opportunity to meet with prospective employers. In the past 11 years, more than 530 companies and 4,400 students have attended the event.

A few weeks later, students from all four communications departments -- advertising/public relations; film-video and media studies; journalism; and telecommunications -- will travel to New York City for “Success in the City,” a job fair in the heart of the Big Apple.

From noon to 5 p.m. Friday, April 15, students will meet with dozens of recruiters from a variety of companies and organizations at the Time Warner Center.

Along with providing opportunities for students, the job fairs expose prospective employers to an energetic and talented pool of potential employees. Both events are free for recruiters.
