Penn State Wilkes-Barre held its 22nd annual Celebration of Academic Excellence ceremony Thursday, April 21. Sponsored by the Department of Academic Affairs, more than 30 students received various awards for exemplary academic performance and high achievement.
The following awards were presented at the ceremony:
2011 President Sparks Award: Kevin A. Bennett, Jennifer M. Naro, Donovan W. Schwartz
2011 President’s Freshman Award: Jonathan E. Geras, John W. Grady, Ashley M. Jackubowski, Ceili A. Jones, Jason R. Levan, Barbara A. Savoy, Bradley C. Sherman, Caitlyn M. Traver, Phillip T. Trometter
Program awards are given to students enrolled in one of the degree programs offered at Penn State Wilkes-Barre who are either graduating or are in their last semester of residence at the Wilkes-Barre campus before graduating:
- Bachelor of Arts in Administration of Justice Program Award: Christopher Wagner
- Bachelor of Science in Administration of Justice Program Award: Mark Orlando
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Technology Program Award: Joseph Homza
- Bachelor of Science in Surveying Engineering Program Award: Joshua Witmer
- Associate in Surveying Technology Program Award: Shawn Palsgrove
College/Division awards are given to students who have completed the first two years of their college education at Penn State Wilkes-Barre and are changing their campus assignment to complete their degree. This award recognizes top students in a College or Division for which courses are given at this campus, regardless of major:
- College of Education Award: Kevin Bennett
- Science and Mathematics Division Award: Brian Miller
Academic Major awards are given to students who have completed the first two years of their college education at Penn State Wilkes-Barre and are changing their campus assignment to complete their degree. These students are recognized for honorable academic achievement in their major (or intended major):
- Eberly College of Science Award: Kelsi Barchik
- College of Business Administration Award: Jennifer Naro, Donovan Schwartz
- College of Education Award: Kelly Bone
The Honor Society provides co- and extracurricular enrichment for selected members of the student body qualified on the basis of scholastic aptitude, test scores, and/or high school or college grade point average (GPA):
