Penn State Lehigh Valley's Office of Continuing Education is currently accepting enrollments for a new program in Teaching English as a Second Language Abroad (TESLA). This three-week online program provides a basic introduction to teaching English language learners (ELL) in foreign contexts. The program runs May 22-28, May 29-June 4 and June 5-11.

Through weekly course modules, participants will be introduced to a toolkit of ideas and strategies to prepare them for working with a variety of ELLs. Topics covered include areas such as understanding cultural diversity and multicultural education, teaching methodology and practice, and classroom management and assessment.

Participants must register by May 19 and complete all three modules to receive a certificate of completion. A bachelor's degree in any content area is the prerequisite for the program. The cost of the program is $399.
