University Park, Pa. — "Green PSU," a new website designed to act as a portal to Penn State's diverse array of sustainability initiatives in academics, research, operations, student life and outreach, has been launched. The site can be found at http://www.green.psu.edu/.
"The goal is to have a one-stop shop for students, faculty, staff, the community, alumni and partners in industry, government and the non-profit sector," said Erik Foley, director of the Penn State Campus Sustainability Office. "At this site, the broader story of Penn State's commitment can be told and people can find the resources they need to engage and collaborate. As the University develops its Strategic Plan for Sustainability, this site will only increase in importance."
The Green PSU website is the result of a two-year collaborative effort between the Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment, the Campus Sustainability Office, Center for Sustainability, Penn State Outreach and the Office of Physical Plant. The site was designed by Patricia Craig, Director of Communications at the Penn State Institutes of Energy and the Environment. The site continues to grow and content is being added every week.
"I don't think any University is doing as much as Penn State in the area of sustainability," said Penn State President Graham Spanier. "It is part of our mission in teaching, research and service to share what we have accomplished and to provide a platform for even greater achievements in the future. The Green PSU website will help further those efforts."
Visitors are invited to explore the website, to learn more about the people, projects, research, academics and organizations that are helping create a more sustainable world, and to learn how they can get involved.
"Most importantly, this site is for those we serve: the students, faculty, staff and friends of Penn State," said Foley. "What do you want this site to be?"
