College to host LGBT Grand Rounds Series lecture

As part of their Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender (LGBT) Grand Rounds Series, the Office of the Associate Dean of Diversity and the medical student LGBT group will host Susan Rankin at noon on Thursday, May 19, in Lecture Room C on the Penn State Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine campus. The lecture is titled “The State of Higher Education for LGBTQQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, and Questioning) People."

Rankin is a research associate in the Center for the Study of Higher Education and associate professor of education in the College Student Affairs Program at Penn State. She has collaborated with more than 70 institutions and organizations in implementing assessments and developing strategic plans regarding social justice issues. In her advocacy work, Rankin is a founding member of the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals, a network of professionals doing advocacy work for LGBT people on college campuses and the statewide Pennsylvania Rights Coalition, a network of individuals and organizations across the commonwealth committed to securing and defending full civil rights for LGBT individuals.
