New Kensington

June art exhibit features museum illustrator Mark Klinger

The works of museum illustrator Mark Klingler will be on display beginning June 1 in the Penn State New Kensington Art Gallery.

Klingler is the scientific illustrator for the Carnegie Museum of Natural History. In his position, the Lower Burrell, Pa., resident reconstructs fossil organisms. His depictions recreate "life' from long ago, and are used for research papers, publications and press releases. His solo exhibition, which runs through June 30, will feature drawings and sculptures of both contemporary wildlife and extinct creatures.

The current art gallery exhibit features the paintings by artist and Penn State New Kensington professor of visual arts Bud Gibbons. The theme of the show is "Found Paintings," and the display includes more than 60 oil and acrylic pieces that have not been a part of Gibbons' earlier exhibits. For more about the Gibbons exhibit, visit http://www.nk.psu.edu/43813.htm online.

The exhibit is free to the public. The gallery is open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. weekdays and noon to 5 p.m. weekends.
