Students get hands-on experience down on the farm

May 18, 2011

University Park, Pa.-- Faculty, students and staff in Penn State's Dairy and Animal Science Department conduct research throughout the year to advance the understanding of equine health, nutrition, breeding and management at Penn State's horse farm. Courses within the equine science minor program are held at the facility and allow students to get hands-on experience in grooming and handling horses, as well as in animal nutrition and kinesiology. The horse farm facility also is used for outreach programs through agricultural extension and 4-H.
